Children’s Day at the United Nations in New York City
In some countries, including Poland, June 1st is celebrated as the International Children’s Day. This year, on June 3rd, Mariola Strahlberg and Joyce Reilly were invited to speak about Children’s Rights to a class of first graders from Chelsea Public School in New York City. The program, organized by the Polish Mission to the UN and Polish Cultural Institute, took place at the United Nations building. To learn more about this special event, click here.
Marcia Talmage Schneider in Kiev, Ukraine
In May, Marcia Talmage Schneider, one of the founding members of the Janusz Korczak Association of the USA was in Kiev, Ukraine. Her book, Janusz Korczak: Sculptor of Children’s Souls was translated into Ukrainian thanks to many efforts of members of the Ukrainian Korczak Association and Svetlana Petrovskaya. Korczak Day at Staten Island University in New York City
In April, Mariola Strahlberg and Marcia Talmage Schneider were invited by Dr. Mikhail Epstein to present together with Eva Haller from the European Janusz Korczak Academy (Munich, Germany) at the School of Education at the College of Staten Island.
