December 2021
Dear Korczakians Everywhere,
As we celebrate our Holidays this year, I ask myself what Janusz Korczak would do if he was with us. We adults have many difficult experiences during 2019-202x pandemic. But what about the kids? Many of them experience sickness and death, loss of school activities, poverty, restricted outdoor play.
What would he do for them? As he once said (from A Voice For the Child, page 143):
“Politicians and legislators make rules and decisions about children, which often fail to work.
Who asks the child for his opinion or consent?
Who is likely to take a note of any advice or approval from such a naive being?
What can a child possibly have to say?”
As this year comes to an end, let’s ask the kids and let’s listen. They know.
We wish you good health, peace and ability to gather together again in person.
